El Paso at Adequan Global Dressage Festival!

This past weekend I got to spend my birthday watching El Paso shine at his first horse show here in the states at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival! Thank you Sara Schmitt for taking him and showing him at second level. El Paso was calm, cool, and collected in such a big show environment and they took home two blue ribbons! It's so cool to see what a great horse he's going to be for me in the show ring. Thanks to Ria Ple for being groom extraordinaire while also showing that day, and Janice Laird Turner for helping with last minute preparations that morning! Regina Dunkel Bann was our great cheering section and took these wonderful photos! She also made a delicious strawberry pie to celeb

FEI World Ranking List!

I just found out I'm ranked 7th for my Grade on the FEI World Ranking List. What an honor- it shows that hard work truly does pay off. I never would have imagined I would have made it this far if I looked back to where I was just a few years ago. Thinking about the fact that I never grew up riding and only got on a horse as part of my rehab, I truly believe that horses are amazing animals. This is only my second year competing ever and I've learned so much from each of the horses that have been a part of my life. Thank you to all the trainers, physical therapists, my family, friends, and everyone else who have supported me along the way so far! If you want to learn more about how to become a

Welcome El Paso!

I’d like to welcome you to the newest member of my team and family: El Paso!! El Paso arrived this weekend all the way from Holland. We got to pick him up from quarantine a few days ago and he has settled in nicely. It’s such a change in environment and weather for him, but he’s adjusted like a pro! He really loves his new horse friends and all the love and attention he’s getting. He took to my wheelchair no problem. I've ridden him a few times and he's been super! He really concentrated on what I needed and for only being here a few days, I truly felt completely safe on him. He let me mount from my chair while he stood completely still and listened to all my aids. His last owner really did

Farewell Sparklez!

Today Sparklez left for his new home where he'll get lots of love from his new mom Angela. While this is a bittersweet day, I can't be more grateful for the opportunity Sara Schmitt gave me the last number of months to ride and show him. Sparklez is such a special boy and taught me a tremendous amount. My confidence increased with him and I became a much stronger rider. I know Angela will have an amazing time with Sparklez- I can't wait to hear about their adventures! As far as I go, Sara and Sparklez have really helped me progress since November. It's been such a learning experience. Stay tuned for some exciting news coming soon! Photos By: https://www.alyssa-photos.com #saraschmittdressag
