Welcome!

Hi there!! So I've been asked to put together a website/blog for a while now and I figure there's no time like the present =) If you read my Bio then you already know a little bit about me. Right now I'm in the midst of training hard for an upcoming horse show on Sunday and a vaulting demo the same exact day for the Special Olympics/Kiwanis.

Two weeks later I have my first big Regional Competition in Nevada for vaulting. I'm competing in 5 parts of the competition: individual and freestyle on the horse and barrel, and pas de deux (doubles) on the barrel. Normally, in vaulting you have to mount the horse at the walk, trot, or canter. Obviously, that's a little hard for me to do since I have to push my chair at the same time. We did try to get creative and figure out if my my coach could throw me on the horse. Mike Box, who makes my chair, suggested installing an airbag in the cushion of my chair and deploying it at the exact moment I needed to mount the horse so I'd go flying the air. These were all WONDERFUL ideas, but after working with the AVA (American Vaulting Association), they allowed the rules to be changed and I will be the first person in a competition to mount the horse while it's standing still!! This had never come up before, but it was so awesome to hear that they would change the rules! Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to compete on the horse.

I'll keep you all updated on my training, horse show, demo, and competition results. If there's anything you'd like to hear from me, please let me know! I look forward to hearing from you all!
